The Futurist Launching a Dedicated FAST Channel
Scaling technology storytelling to a global, always-on audience
Toronto, Ontario, Canada — JULY 8, 2026

The Futurist announces the launch of a dedicated FAST channel — a free, 24/7 streaming channel bringing technology and business storytelling to a global audience across connected TV and streaming platforms. Launch is targeted for late 2026 to early 2027.
This is a strategic move to take what The Futurist does best — storytelling about technology and the future — to a scale that matches the size of the problem it addresses.
In the tradition of the great storytellers
Carl Sagan made the universe understandable. Through his work, he turned the vastness of space into something ordinary people could grasp, wonder at, and feel part of. David Attenborough did the same for the natural world — teaching generations to see nature with fascination, understanding, and care.
The Futurist is built on the same conviction, applied to the domain that will define this century: technology and the future. What space was to Sagan and the natural world is to Attenborough, the future is to The Futurist — vast, fast-moving, easy to fear, and in urgent need of storytelling that makes it clear, human, and worth engaging with.
That is the tradition this channel continues.
Why storytelling, and why now
Technology is advancing faster than people, organizations, and industries can absorb it. Artificial intelligence, robotics, and automation are reshaping work, careers, and daily life at a pace that outstrips most people's ability to make sense of it. The result is fear, hesitation, and missed opportunity.
Storytelling closes that gap. Facts inform; stories move people to understand and to act. That is the case for a dedicated channel:
- Address Technology Anxiety. Fear comes from the unknown. Real, human stories make the unfamiliar familiar and replace anxiety with understanding.
- Support Future Workforce. Showing people working alongside AI models what good looks like — helping workforces adapt and augment rather than resist.
- Help Emerging Professionals. Narratives of emerging roles and skills let people see, and prepare for, what comes next.
- Drive Business Transformation. Change succeeds or fails on communication. Business storytelling builds the trust, adoption, and alignment that strategy alone cannot.
- Inspire Startups. Seeing what others have built is what moves the next builder to start.
- Connect Entrepreneurs. Stories create community, surface collaborators, and open doors that cold introductions never will.
- Help Solve the World's Problems. Carrying ideas across industries that would otherwise never meet is how a breakthrough in one vertical becomes a solution in another.
This is a global need. A dedicated channel is how The Futurist meets it at scale.
The market: why FAST
FAST — Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television — is the fastest-growing segment of the streaming market, and the right vehicle for storytelling built to reach everyone, everywhere, for free.
- U.S. FAST viewing rose 43% year-over-year to 1.8 billion hours through August 2025 (Nielsen; Comscore).
- More than 1,900 active FAST channels operate globally, and roughly 64% of U.S. homes now watch FAST content.
- Leading platforms — Samsung TV Plus, The Roku Channel, and Tubi — each approach or exceed 100 million viewers.
The audience is global, the distribution is free, and the growth is structural. There is not yet a dedicated channel built around technology, innovation, and the future — a category The Futurist is positioned to define.
Statement from Ian Khan, Founder & CEO
"After more than a hundred stories, one thing is clear: technology is moving faster than our ability to make sense of it. Storytelling is how we close that gap — it turns fear into understanding, and understanding into action. The storytellers who came before us made the universe and the natural world understandable to everyone. Our work is to do the same for the future, at scale, free, and always on."
What the channel will stream
A continuous, always-on home for technology and the future: flagship documentaries, executive and expert interviews, accessible explainers, and stories from the industries being reshaped fastest — organized around the verticals where the need is greatest, from robotics and healthcare to manufacturing and beyond. Free, global, and available on any device.
Work on launching the channel has commenced and an announcement with availability will be made in due course of time.
